Medal High School in regards to College
and Career Readiness. This year it is
our goal to continue the hard work that
qualified us for the prestigious honor
and enhance our efforts in the lower
grade levels in the building so that our
graduating seniors will be more
prepared for their next phase of life.
When it comes to state testing, the
2016 Spring AIR results were released
late in June, and will be the first order
of business by our administration and
guidance department in August. We will
review these results and plan some
quality professional development for our
teaching staff. They will explore their
results to see where our students
excelled, and where our students fell
short in a continued effort to improve
our testing results.
The 2016 – 2017 Junior class will be
given the ACT test one time during the
school year according to the state
testing guidelines but all the other tests
will remain the same and again be
administered in the months of March,
April, and May.
One of the new, creative avenues
the Jr/Sr High staff and students will be
traveling down this year is the addition
of 200 chrome books as educational
tools. The staff members are individually
applying for internal grants to qualify
and lead the transformation of what will
eventually be one-to-one education.
The age of technology is only
advancing and if we do not grab hold of
that mode of education we will be doing
an injustice to our students instead of
preparing them for college, careers, and
the present day work force. It is going
to be very interesting and exciting to be
a part of this challenge and it will be
instrumental in forming the foundation
for future teaching and learning in our
school district.
As for our many extra-curricular
programs, we made tremendous efforts
last year to promote and enhance
community involvement within these
programs. We want to continue to
promote these programs as well as
increase the community participation.
With that said, we want to welcome Mr.
McGlynn as our new Athletic Director for
the 2016 – 2017 school year. The
number to the athletic department is
still the same and he can also be
reached by leaving a message at the
high school office or by going to our
website and contacting him using his e-
mail address
.
Remember he is your next contact after
talking to your child’s coach or if you
have any questions the coach was not
able to answer.
