Adjusting the time on the network

From time-to-time, the computer network may have the incorrect time.   To fix this, you need to set the correct time on the “Primary Domain Controller” or PDC on the network.   This will then begin to sync up the time on all of the computer on the network.

To find out the primary domain controller:

  1. Connect to one of the servers.
  2. Drop down to the command prompt.
  3. Type in:  w32tm /monitor
    1. This will analyze the time server settings and display the results.
    2. Find the server that has *** PDC ***

Once you have found out the primary domain controller:

  1. Connect to the primary domain controller
  2. Reset the time on that machine to be more accurate.
  3. Drop the command prompt.
  4. Type in:  w32tm /monitor

The time should then start syncing up correctly across the network, which may take some time to hit all work stations.
