The YSU English Festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. A “Reading into the Past” challenge has been made to all students from a participating school, even if they will not be attending the Festival. Informational posters have been displayed in the Jr. High and High School hallways as well as the Commons area. Here is the challenge:
Pick three books that you haven’t read before that were on a previous English Festival list.
Try to read about a character that doesn’t look like you or live like you, read a book about a topic you don’t know much about, and read a book in a format that you don’t normally read for fun – this might be a chapter book, a graphic novel, a book in verse, a picture book, etc.
Mrs. Schlaubach, in room 111, has a shelf dedicated to books from past English Festivals, if you would like to check them out. The list of prior books is attached to the informational posters. Mr. Sembach in our library or any librarian at our town library can help you check out one of the books listed.
Once you have completed the challenge, let Mrs. Schlaubach know! We have until Sunday, April 1st to complete this challenge!
