Updated Covid Guidance for Newton Falls Schools

Anyone with Covid-like symptoms should stay home and get tested.

● Traditional symptoms include fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headache, loss of taste/smell, sore throat, congestion/runny nose, and nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
● Omicron variant symptoms (most common current variant) include sore throat, congestions, runny nose, and cough (may develop later)

Individuals who test positive for Covid must isolate at home for 5 days. Day 1 is the day after symptom onset or a positive test. They can return to work/school on day 6 if their symptoms are improving but they must wear a tight fitting mask on days 6-10. Alternatively, if they take 2 rapid tests 48 hours apart starting on day 6 and both are negative, they can discontinue wearing the mask.

Individuals who are exposed to someone with Covid do not need to quarantine if they are asymptomatic; however, it is recommended that they wear a mask for 10 days.
