Compiling information

Don’t trust the provider.  You may find a website that contains all of the information you are looking for and you bookmark it in your favorites.  Later you come back to the site to use the information only to find that it is not available on-line anymore.  To overcome this problem, save the web page.   You can create a folder on your hard drive or desktop, and save the page to that folder.  This will download the entire page, including graphics.  You will then have a copy of that page for your research.

Reduce Paper.  When possible, try not to print out information.  If you can save the information to a hard drive or a thumb drive, this is better practice.  Later you can archive the information by making a backup.

Organize your information.  If you are saving things off the Internet into a single folder, over time that folder will become full of several different types of files and file names.  When ever possible, use folders to organize your information.
