Most people believe that if they have the latest and greatest ant-virus software installed, a virus will be removed.  This is a false security.  It is true that ant-virus software will remove most viruses, but there are 65,000 known viruses and new ones are added everyday.  There are some viruses that infect parts of the computer and operating system where ant-virus software does not even patrol.  Anti-virus software works best for prevention of new computer viruses, not the removal of an existing virus.

When removing viruses:

1. Research the virus on the Internet and find out all the information you can about the virus, even how to remove it.
2. Follow the removal instructions exactly.
3. Only consider formatting and reinstalling the operating system as a last resort.
