HS Student Council Elections

High School Student Council elections for next school year will begin this week. Student Body elections will be held first and voted upon. After that vote, class officer elections will begin and be voted on.

Petitions to run for Student Body office are available in Mrs. Reynolds room 319. 
Petitions for positions must be turned into Mrs. Reynolds by Friday April 26th.
Voting will be held via google form Wednesday, May 1st.
Immediately following Student Body elections, petitions for class officers will be available and voting will be held.

YSU English Festival Reminders

This is a reminder that the YSU English Festival is Wednesday, April 17th, for grades 10-12 and Thursday, April 18th, for grades 7-9. If you haven't finished all of the required books, you need to spend the next several days reading up on summaries online to prepare.

You can pack a lunch or buy food from the food court the day of the event. It's a good idea to bring something to write with and a notebook. You will need to be picked up at school afterward as we will be arriving back around 4:30 PM.

Board of Education Meeting

There will be a Regular Board of Education meeting this Thursday, April 18th, at 5:30 PM in the JHHS Board Meeting room.

ELMS Honors Assembly

The Elementary/Middle School Honors Assembly will take place on Friday, April 19th, in the ELMS gym.

Kindergarten and first grade will start at 9:00 AM.

Second and third grade will start at 10:30 AM.

Fourth and fifthe grade will start at 9:45 AM.

Fifth Grade Class Photo Flyer

Here is the flyer for the 5th grade class photo. There are no online order codes. Information about the photo and the order form was sent home last week. Order forms are available in the Elementary/Middle School Office. The picture will be taken on Friday, April 19th, and will be delivered prior to the last day of school.

Prom

Prom will take place on Friday, May 3rd. Promenade and crowning will take place at 5:30 PM at the High School Auditorium and prom will begin promptly at 6:00 PM at Vinny's at Roby Lee's in Newton Falls.

Tickets are now on sale for $40.00 each. Tickets can be purchased in the High School Office or from Mrs. Evans in Room 208. All guest passes should be turned in when purchasing tickets. The last day to purchase tickets is Tuesday, April 23rd.

Track Meet Rescheduled

The Ugly Jug Track Meet here at Newton Falls has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 25th.

NF Library Teen Book Bites

The Newton Falls Public Library is holding another Teen Book Bites program on Thursday, April 25th, at 6:00 PM. Teens can bring any book they've read and loved to share with the group. It's a way teens can participate in a fun book discussion while reading their own book choices. Snacks will be provided.

JHHS Yearbook Sale Ends Soon!

The deadline to order a Junior High/High School yearbook is April 30th! No yearbooks will be available for purchase after that and no extras are ordered.

Order your JHHS yearbook for this school year online only! Yearbooks are delivered in the fall of next school year.

2024-2025 Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-2025 school year has begun!

Who - All students who turn 5 years old before August 1, 2024

How: Call Mrs. Radcliffe at (330) 872-0695 ext. 1055 to make an appointment

When: Through Friday, May 10, 2024

Tigerette Clinics and Tryout

Any CURRENT 6th-11th grade students who are interested in trying out for Tigerettes for the fall are invited to attend two clinics and a tryout. The clinics will take place on Tuesday, May 14th, and Wednesday, May 15th, from 2:45-4:45 PM, with tryouts taking place on Friday, May 17th, at 2:45 PM. Attendance is mandatory at both clinics to be eligible for tryouts. Students should see Miss Hrdlicka in the band room to pick up a packet of information and a permission slip for tryouts.

Walk Warm Program

The Walk Warm Program at the Elementary/Middle School will run through Friday, May 17th, from 4:00-6:00 PM, when school is open.

Participants are NOT permitted in the building until 4:00 PM due to student dismissal . If you arrive before 4:00 PM, please remain in your vehicle until that time.

The program is open to all Newton Falls residents. Individuals under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Sign-in is required.

33rd Annual Tiger Boys Basketball Camp

Tiger Boys Basketball camp will be conducted by Newton Falls Boys' Varsity Basketball coach, Roy Sembach. Assisting Coach Sembach will be current and former Tiger basketball players. The Tigers have had 26 winning seasons in the past 27 years, including 6 District Championships, 21 Sectional Championships, 5 District Runners – Up, and 5 League Championships under the direction of Coach Sembach. Camp will be held each day at the outdoor basketball courts at the Newton Falls City Park.

Sign Up for Camp Invention

Camp Invention will be held once again at the Junior High School from Monday, June 3rd, through Friday, June 7th, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Camp Invention is for students in grades 1-6 where they will build and learn about such things as glow boxes, light up game boards, transforming their sketches into prototypes, and water challenges.

There's no cost to participate, but spaces fill up fast! To register, call 800-968-4332. If you have any questions, contact Camp Director Kayla Smith by email at smithk@nfschools.org or at 330-872-0905 ext. 1109. The last day to register is Thursday, May 30th.

JH Student Council Plastic Bag Collection

The Junior High Student Council has until the end of the school year to collect plastic bags for the recycling challenge. We have collected 596 lbs. and need 404 lbs. to reach our goal and get a free Trex bench for our school!

Remember, only stretchy plastic is allowed. Plastic bags from the grocery store or the plastic bags that come over newspapers.

Make sure to donate today by sending bags to the JHHS with your students or dropping them off at the building offices!

Summer with Newton Falls Chess

Looking for volunteer hours for graduation or National Honor Society? Looking to play chess over the summer? Chess Club will once again be held this summer at the Newton Falls Public Library on the following Thursday afternoons at 2:00 PM:

June 13th, June 27th, July 11th, and July 25th

Your participation and involvement is greatly appreciated if able to help! It means a lot to the NF community, the library, and the younger children who attend. If you think you may want
to be a part of the program, please reach out when possible grosse@nfschools.org or ChrissyBraun@newtonfalls.org. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, June 12th.

In Case Of Emergency

In case of emergencies such as school closings, bus delays, or upcoming events, the district will use its computerized telephone notification system to inform parents. It is extremely important that parents verify their emergency telephone numbers with each building secretary. If you have changed telephone numbers or are now using only a cell phone contact to be reached, please update your information with the building secretary.
